History
The JMU chapter of AEE was the first student chapter established in the United States. In 2003, we were awarded Student Chapter of the Year.
We periodically have guest speakers from various energy professions come to our meetings.
In 2005, in conjunction with the Environmental Business Club, we had a resolution passed in the Student Government Association stating that the students were in favor of JMU switching all of their electricity to having come from renewable power sources.

In 2006 the JMU Chapter was recognized by the AEE at the National Convention as the National AEE College Chapter of the year. In photo from left to right: Eric Oliver(National AEE VP), Jeremy Knibbs, Brianna Tocar, Matthew Fenzel, Brian Lantz, Bob Gallerani.
We have sponsored several energy symposiums here at JMU, and had several field trips to various energy sites, such as the Mountaineer Wind Energy Center in West Virginia and the Bath County Pumped Storage Station.
Our sponsor is the National Capital Chapter.
